This past Sunday (August 19) marked the UN’s World Humanitarian Day, designated to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others. The day was institutionalized by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 UN staff.
This year’s campaign “I Was Here” is about making your mark by doing something good, somewhere, for someone else.
Far be it from us at CLUBHOUSE to claim heroism anywhere on par with what soldiers, revolutionaries and other aid workers have achieved. We are, however, actively towards bettering our community, and we would like to thank our own heroes around the world who continue to support us in our endeavor.
We are here on earth for but a flicker in time. Let generosity and kindness be the legacy you live behind. Let those who remember you smile and say “He/She was here”
